Study 34: Young people and development cooperation – Development aid good for your resume?
Although many young people genuinely empathise with the developing world, they understand all too well that support for developing countries can also benefit themselves. Seven out of ten (71%) agree with the statement that it is good for your resume if you have actively worked for a charity in a developing country. Women (83%) and those with higher education (84%) are even more aware of this fact. Half of the young people interviewed (52%) consider it ‘hip’ to work for a better world.

What do they think about the government’s development budget and the humanitarian mission in Afghanistan? NCDO conducted a survey on these issues among young people aged 15 to 30. The results address the difference in the answers given by older and younger respondents.
